On the 18th of January, 2016 IHATI project team in collaboration with the School of Public Health at the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy provided a final lecture within the framework of the project “Let the Fresh Air In”: bringing UKMA Public Health Students into the National TB Response, which is being implemented through support provided by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Strengthening Tuberculosis Control in Ukraine (STbCU) project.
Dr. Med. Eliot J. Pearlman, MD, MPH TM, MPA, Chairman of the INGO "International HIV / AIDS and Tuberculosis Institute" gave a lecture. During his speech, the lecturer told the students the history of implementation of patient-centered approaches in the area of HIV/AIDS, and that later this successful practice was adapted to the TB area and implemented in it.
The aim of the lecture was to convey to the students the importance of patient-centered approaches to treatment in modern medicine and to tell about the role of public health professionals in using it in the fight against TB.
